Register as an Organ and Tissue Donor
The shortage of donors is so severe that every day 18 people die waiting for organs that could have saved their lives. Your decision to register as an organ and tissue donor can save up to 8 lives and enhance the lives of over 50 people.
There are 3 easy ways to register as an organ and tissue donor in New Jersey:
1. At your local Motor Vehicle Agency when you apply for or renew your NJ driver's license or state ID
2. Online anytime*. Take me to the Donate Life NJ Registry!
3. Download the paper registration or request on at 1-800-742-7365*
When you visit the NJ Motor Vehicle Agency and say “yes” to organ and tissue donation, the words “Organ Donor” will appear on the front of your driver’s license and will be included in your computer record. Saying “yes” is legal consent to the donation of your organs and tissue for the purpose of transplantation and therapy that cannot be revoked by anyone but you. Tell your family about your decision to become an organ and tissue donor. If you are under 18 or have not made a donation decision, your family will be responsible for making the decision. You must renew your decision to be a donor every time your license/state ID expires.
*If you register online or by paper form, your decision to donate will be in your driver record but the words "Organ Donor" will NOT appear on your driver's license/state ID.
