REAL ID: What You Need to Know
- What is REAL ID and who needs one?
REAL ID is the new federal requirement for state-issued driver licenses and non-driver IDs to help prevent fraudulent identification. Starting May 7, 2025, all travelers flying domestically within the United States will need to present a REAL ID, passport, or another federally approved form of identification. - Visit your local Motor Vehicle Commission department.
First time applications for REAL ID cannot be done online or via mail and must be done in-person.
